It has good links with the school and the village community. St Kyneburgha Beaver Colony Beavers’ is the youngest part of the Scout movement and is for boys and girls aged between 6 and 8 years old. St. Kyneburgha's Sunday Club This is a Sunday Club run by the Church for children. It runs during the Sunday morning church service. It caters from Children from Age 3 to 11 and allows parents to attend the church service. Children under 3 are welcome but a parent or carer must stay with them. Village Toddler Group Every Wednesday during term time from 9.30am in The Village Hall, Castor. This friendly group is run by the Pre-School and is open to all children from birth to 3 years. Regular attendees include Mums, Dads, Grandparents and Carers and so everyone is welcome! Snacks and refreshments served for both children and adults. Charge is £1.00 per visit. No need to book - just turn up. The Zone "The Zone" is a youth group run by St Kyneburgha's Church. Any teenagers of 13-15 years old from any of our villages and beyond, are welcome to come along. We meet every Friday during term time at The Cedar Centre, Castor (next to the Church) from 6-7pm ish. It's led by Sam, our 19 year old youth worker, and the group starts up again the Friday after the Easter holidays (11th April 2008). We get together for an hour and sometimes talk a bit about stuff that matters like "Is God real?" "Is war ever right?" Mostly we have fun, play silly games and eat a lot!!! Anyway, if you'd like to come along, just turn up. You'll be very welcome, bring a friend too. If you want to find out more before you come, just give Jo a call. Or email Jo at: tim.darters@virgin.net Walking Group We are a ladies only walking group who meet on Peterborough Road, Castor at the bottom of Church Walk (This is the end of the driveway up to St Kyneburgha's Church). We meet every Thursday at 9.30am and enjoy a local walk (the route is decided upon once we meet). The group is informal and is free of charge but we usually stop for a Tea or Coffee along the way so bring a bit of money with you. No need to contact us or book. Just turn up on the day. Nene Valley Baby & Toddler Group Nene Valley Tots is a parent and toddler group that meet on Mondays at the Christie Hall, Elton Road, Wansford. We would love to see some new faces at the group, babies as well as toddlers are welcome. So come along, join in the activities and enjoy a coffee and a chat. Castor & Ailsworth Cricket Club Castor and Ailsworth Cricket Club combines the advantages of an attractive rural village setting and competitive cricket to a high standard. Castor & Ailsworth Tennis Club Castor & Ailsworth Tennis Club caters for a range of activities from social weekend tennis, to more competitive matchplay and has a club history dating back to 1920s. The club has grown to about 120 with many family memberships. The standard of tennis has improved so that the "A team" secured promotion to the second division and the Ladies team gained promotion in its first year. The "B team" and social tennis flourishes. Please see our Full Page Listing for more details. Phoenix Group We are a friendly unaffiliated womens social group and all ages are welcome. Our activities vary according to the time of year and members requests. They include talks (sometimes with supper and wine), theatre trips, meals out, barbeques, garden social evenings (more food and wine!), visits to stately homes and gardens etc. There is no regular membership fee each event being self funding. We like to keep things simple so we do not have a formal committee although a quorum of co-ordinators ensure details of activites are published in the Parish News and, together with members help, organise events. Or email Jennie Corke. Castor & Ailsworth Evergreen Club The Evergreen Club of Castor & Ailsworth is a group of about eighty men and women of retirement age. They meet every two weeks at the village hall from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and play whist, scrabble, dominoes, bingo and what ever else they would like to do.Each afternoon ends with tea and biscuits. Lifts are always available for those with walking difficulties. From March to September there are monthly coach outings to various parts of the country to places of interest all at very reasonable prices. We always welcome newcomers and its a wonderful place to make friends.
