General Castor and Ailsworth Cricket Club is situated 5 miles west of central Peterborough. It combines the advantages of an attractive rural village setting and competitive cricket to a high standard. The ground is surrounded by trees and fields and is traffic free. Our fixture list offers cricket to suit virtually any standard of player and we are always keen to recruit new members in order to sustain this. The ground is at the far end of Port Lane in Castor (opposite the Prince of Wales Public House). Our season runs from late April until late September. Weekend League matches generally start at 1.00pm or 1.30pm and 2.00pm and evening matches at 6.00pm. The club organises a number of social events throughout the season. Details are available at the Clubhouse during the season. Cricket Nets (Contact: Phil Auckland 07738 419494) Indoor Cricket Nets start Sunday 6th January, at Stanground College (Peterborough Road, Farcet, PE7 3BY). They run from 6pm to 8pm. Each Sunday until 13th April (except 2nd and 23rd March). There is a small charge to cover costs. We welcome new players of all standards. Downloads Fixture List for 2008 [PDF File] | 1st XI (Captain: Andy Knowles Tel: 07771-862339) The Saturday 1st XI play in the Tucker Partnership Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Premier League Division Two. On Sundays we play in the more locally based Stylaprint Rutland League Division Two. We can always find room for players of first eleven ability or potential. 2nd XI (Captain: Phil Auckland Tel 07738-419494) The Saturday 2nd XI play in the Hunts County Bats Huntingdonshire League Division Four. Our objective is for this team to advance to enable it to offer greater support to the 1st XI. On Sundays we play in the Stylaprint Rutland League Division Six. We are very keen to recruit good youngsters of 14 and upwards to introduce them to adult cricket. We have also been a vehicle for several older players to return to cricket after a lapse. All are welcome. Midweek XI (Captain: Robin Vitas 07801 753000) We enter approximately 1st XI strength in the Jaidka Cup knockout. On Thursday evenings a team of mixed standard play in the Special Eyes Peterborough Midweek League. Colts (Co-ordinator: Mark Jacobs 01733 380483) Over more than 30 years the colts have been the backbone around which the club has been built and many of our current 1st XI joined the club as colts. We currently run teams in the Hunts under-9, under-11, and under-15 competitions. Boys of all ages are very welcome and we would also welcome adults who are willing to assist in either an administrative or a coaching capacity. Older colts should also refer to 2nd XI notes. |
