Race for Life 2008 Ferry Meadows Country Park Wednesday 25th June 2008 | ![]() |
Race for Life is Cancer Research UK's flagship event and has grown to become the UK's largest women-only fundraising event. Due to the large number of local people taking part, two events were held in Peterborough this week. Jo Morris from Castor coordinated a local team who all successfully completed the course last night (Wednesday). A total of 32 local women took part, including three staff from Castor School, many school mums and several members of the Handbelles. In addition, 8 pupils from Castor School took part, all aged between 6 and 10. Each and every one of them ran the whole 5km course which was a tremendous achievement. Well done to Abigail, Lydia, Megan, Alice, Lara, Mirren, Sophie, and Louise. Lots of money was raised for Cancer Research and whilst everyone was running in memory or celebration of a person special to them, the team collectively ran in memory of Luci Prance, who's daughter Francesca attends Castor School. If anyone is interested in contributing to the team's sponsorship please contact Jo Morris on 07736 930202. | The local team (or most of them) prior to the race ![]() Some of the pupils who took part ![]() |
